"In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning. such as the meaning of a sacrifice".
- Viktor E. Frankl
Whether you have already created your story or are in the process of figuring it out, we are interested in what it means to be you, the meaning you ascribe to your life and the many experiences that contribute to who you are, the way you make sense of difficult and painful experiences and the beliefs you hold about yourself as a result.
Trauma is at the core of work that I do with most clients. It is often thought of as "big", life changing events such as war, accidents, natural disasters and violence. Whilst these can cause massive disruptions to our lives and emotional and psychological well being, I am deeply passionate about the the other traumas too which we sometimes fail to recognise out of fear of not being "big enough"- things like emotional neglect, early attachments with our caregivers and those moments growing up where we might have felt unseen, unheard and unsupported which has led to our questioning of who we are, what we worth and if our lives hold importance and value. These experiences sometimes leave us feeling anxious and maybe resorting to, people pleasing and self sabotaging behaviours.
This can sometimes show up through relationships with immature/unavailable parents, racial trauma, societal pressures and expectations, bullying and an overall feeling of not belonging. Or, it could show up through the less spoken about family dynamics, like growing up in a loving home and having a carefree childhood yet still feeling unseen and unloved.
My aim is to provide a safe and inclusive space to explore and make sense of whatever you are holding.
